Community News – Girl Guides Registration

guidesHave you considered Girl Guides as an extracurricular option for your daughter?

Girl Guides is a safe, all-girl environment that invites girls to challenge themselves, find their voice, meet new friends and make a difference in the world. Today’s Girl Guide program helps girls learn about global and cultural awareness, career exploration, science and technology and the arts.

Girls in Guiding meet weekly to have fun and participate in engaging activities. Through our wide range of programming, from enriching projects to discussions of important issues such as bullying, self-esteem and body image, Girl Guides helps girls develop the skills needed to confidently navigate their world.

We welcome girls ages 5-17!

Spark, Brownie, Guide and Pathfinder meetings are held in Carp.

Carp Colossal Garage Sale – Saturday June 11th

Garage Sales

The Huntley Community Association is organizing the Carp Colossal Garage Sale. It will take place on Saturday, June 11th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Carp Fair Grounds.

The goal of the event is to involve as many people from the community as possible, and to draw many families out to the event by making it fun… this is not your average garage sale.

People from the community can sell items at the garage sale by registering at The very affordable registration fee of $10 covers the use of a table for the day to set up items to sell.

Local vendors will be setting up tables as well to promote their businesses, network with other local business owners, and to meet potential new customers face to face. Vendors will also register at to secure a table.

To make the garage sale a family-friendly event with a small town feel, there will be a variety of activities taking place during the day. Just a few of the fun activities will be face painting for kids, safety demonstrations by police and fire, music, and a butter tart contest!

We are looking for high school students who would volunteer their time during the event to do face painting for kids. This would consist of an hour shift. Students are also needed to help encourage garage sale customers to check out the arena where more tables will be set up. There may be additional opportunities for students to earn their volunteer hours at this event, such as set-up and take-down of tables.

We look forward to this fun, community event and hope you will come out and enjoy!
