Christmas Bazaar – Dec 9th – Donations and Volunteers Needed

Hi Huntley families,

The Annual Christmas Bazaar will take place on Friday, December 9th.

It’s time once again to begin preparations! This annual fundraising event is a longstanding tradition and a HUGE hit with our students.  Students delight in the opportunity to do some secret shopping for Moms, Dads, siblings and guardians, have a snack at our bake sale table and to purchase tickets to win some pretty awesome raffle baskets.

In the past, this event has raised more than $2,000 for our school.  In order to achieve or surpass our previous success we need many families to help! How can you help?

Donations:

We need all families to look through your nooks, crannies and cupboards and bring us your gently-used treasures that you no longer need, but that a child would take great pleasure buying and giving.  Please bring your donations to the school starting on Monday, November 21st. There will be a large box by the doors of the old gym where you can place your donations. Items that appeal to Dad’s are always a particular need.  No food items please.

Raffle Items:

Over the years, the Raffle table has also been a very popular spot and a big part of the funds we are able to raise.  Previously, we have been extremely fortunate to have large and small donations from both Businesses and Individuals.  Examples of donated raffle Items in the past include: Sens ticketsnew board games, Lego and craft sets and Costco movie passes.

The Christmas Bazaar is a wonderful school community event to get involved with and it doesn’t require a large commitment of your time.  We need people(or family members) to volunteer a few hours of their time to set-up in the afternoon before the sale, helpers to staff our gift tables on the day of the Bazaar, and help with cleanup at the end of the day.  Many hands make light work! If you have any questions please contact Anita Gibbons at – anitagibbons@hotmail.com

Huntley Centennial Arts Festival – Friday May 6th

The Huntley Centennial Arts Festival is scheduled for Friday May 6th, 6pm-8pm, and will be taking place in the school gym and hallways.

This is an open Invitation. We will celebrate our students’ accomplishments in the arts with the wider community. Every child in the school will have a piece of visual art on display. Informal and varied performances by individuals and groups, including choir, drumming and performance art will be ongoing.

We are part of a vibrant community and welcome all visitors to pop in and enjoy.  Bring the family, enjoy some goodies and lots of creative, fun and joyful art and entertainment.

As in past years, there will be a canteen offering beverages for the participants and their supporters.  There will also be a Bake Sale table, with treats being sold for $1 and $2 to hungry performers and proud parents.  We are also in need of a few parents to volunteer to help take down the art exhibits after the show.   If you are interested in providing baked treats for the show, or helping with clean up after, please email Mandy at  mandyeustace@hotmail.com.  Baked goods must be peanut free, wrapped for individual sale, and dropped off at the school by Friday before the festival.

Thanks and we look forward to all the wonderful performances and exhibits!
